About the outfitter finder
The outfitter finder lists the hunting outfitters and lodges featured on Canada in the Rough™. Each one has hosted the Beasley Brothers on camera. As a result, you can watch the hunt before you book. The list covers camps from Newfoundland to Nunavut, and it grows with every new episode.
Each listing shows the province or territory, the species, the featured episode and a link to the outfitter’s website. In addition, the outfitter’s own page has the promo video when one is available. That way, you can compare hunting outfitters side by side before you call anyone.
Featured hunting outfitters by province and species
First, use the province filter above to see outfitters in one province or territory. Then, filter by species to narrow the list of hunting outfitters. For example, you can look for moose, black bear, whitetail deer, caribou, mountain sheep, muskox, turkey, grouse or waterfowl hunts. There are also fishing lodges.
How to choose between hunting outfitters
Good hunting outfitters are happy to answer questions, so start with the species and the region you want. Next, watch the episode filmed at that camp to see the terrain, the lodging and the style of hunting. After that, contact the outfitter directly and ask about:
- Recent success rates and the size of animals they expect
- What the price includes, such as guiding, meals, lodging, transport and meat or trophy care
- How fit you need to be, the usual weather and the best weeks of the season
- Licence and tag rules, especially for non-resident hunters
Finally, ask for references from recent hunters. The best hunting outfitters will answer clearly and put you in touch with past clients.
Watch before you book
Every outfitter in the guide appears in at least one episode. So, open the featured episode from any listing, or browse the full episode guide. Past hunts are also on the Canada in the Rough YouTube channel.
